Mere Mehboob Qayaamat Hogi
mere mehboob qayamat hogi
aaj rusva teri galiyon mein mohabbat hogi
meri nazren to gilaa karti hain
tere dil ko bhi sanam tujhse shikayat hogi
teri gali main aata sanam
nagma wafa ka gaata sanam
tujh se suna na jaata sanam
phir aaj idhar aaya hoon magar yeh kehne main deewana
khatm bas aaj yeh vehshat hogi
aaj rusva teri galiyon mein mohabbat hogi
meri tarah tu aahen bhare
tu bhi kissi se pyar kare
aur rahe voh tujhse pare
tune o sanam dhaye hain sitam to yeh tu bhool na jaana
ki na tujh pe bhi inayat hogi
aaj rusva teri galiyon mein mohabbat hogi
Another Version
mere mehboob qayamat hogi
aaj rusva teri galiyon mein mohabbat hogi
naam niklega tera hi lab se
jaan jab iss dil-e-nakaam se rukhsat hogi
mere sanam ke dar se agar
baad-e-saba ho tera guzar
kehna sitamgar kuch hai khabar
tera naam liya - jab tak bhi jiya - ae shama tera parwana
jisse ab tak tujhe nafrat hogi
aaj rusva teri galiyon mein mohabbat hogi
Eastern Promises

The movie has received great reviews.
I really enjoy mob/mafia movies. This one, well I liked some parts, but found MOST of the movie rather boring, cliched and at times even stupid. Could've easily been so much better.
It is watchable. But after reading the reviews, I wasn't sure if those people watched the same movie that I did. In my opinion, it isn't that good a movie.

The Highwayman
Alfred Noyes ...
The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees,
the moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
the road was a ribbon of moonlight, over the purple moor,
and the highwayman came riding-
riding-riding-
the highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door.
He'd a French cocked-hat on his forehead, a bunch of lace at his chin,
a coat of the claret velvet, and breeches of brown doe-skin;
they fitted with never a wrinkle: his boots were up to the thigh,
and he rode with a jeweled twinkle,
his pistol butts a-twinkle,
his rapier hilt a-twinkle, under the jeweled sky.
Over the cobbles he clattered and clashed in the dark inn-yard,
and he tapped with his whip on the shutters, but all was locked and barred;
he whistled a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
but the landlord's black-eyed daughter,
Bess, the landlord's daughter,
plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.
And dark in the old inn-yard a stable-wicket creaked
where Tim the ostler listened; his face was white and peaked;
his eyes were hollows of madness, his hair like mouldy hay,
but he loved the landlord's daughter,
the landlord's red-lipped daughter,
dumb as a dog he listened, and he heard the robber say-
"one kiss, my bonny sweetheart, I am after a prize tonight,
but I shall be back with the yellow gold before the morning light;
yet, if they press me sharply, and harry me through the day,
then look for me by moonlight,
watch for me by moonlight,
I'll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way."
He rose upright in the stirrups; he scarce could reach her hand,
but she loosened her hair i' the casement! his face burnt like a brand
as the black cascade of perfume came tumbling over his breast;
and he kissed its waves in the moonlight,
(oh, sweet black waves in the moonlight!)
then he tugged at his rein in the moonlight, and galloped away to the west.
He did not come in the dawning; he did not come at noon;
and out o' the tawny sunset, before the rise o' the moon,
when the road was a gipsy's ribbon, looping the purple moor,
a red-coat troop came marching-
marching-marching-
King George's men came marching, up to the old inn-door.
They said no word to the landlord, they drank his ale instead,
but they gagged his daughter and bound her to the foot of her narrow bed;
two of them knelt at her casement, with muskets at their side!
there was death at every window;
and hell at one dark window;
for Bess could see, through the casement, the road that he would ride.
They had tied her up to attention, with many a sniggering jest;
they bound a musket beside her, with the barrel beneath her breast!
"now keep good watch!" and they kissed her.
she heard the dead man say-
look for me by moonlight;
watch for me by moonlight;
I'll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way!
She twisted her hands behind her; but all the knots held good!
she writhed her hands till her fingers were wet with sweat or blood!
they stretched and strained in the darkness, and the hours crawled by like years,
till, now, on the stroke of midnight,
cold, on the stroke of midnight,
the tip of one finger touched it! the trigger at least was hers!
The tip of one finger touched it; she strove no more for the rest!
up, she stood up to attention, with the barrel beneath her breast,
she would not risk their hearing; she would not strive again;
for the road lay bare in the moonlight;
blank and bare in the moonlight;
and the blood of her veins in the moonlight throbbed to her love's refrain.
tlot-tlot; tlot-tlot! had they heard it? the horse-hoofs ringing clear;
tlot-tlot, tlot-tlot, in the distance? were they deaf that they did not hear?
down the ribbon of moonlight, over the brow of the hill,
the highwayman came riding,
riding, riding!
the red-coats looked to their priming! she stood up straight and still!
tlot-tlot, in the frosty silence! tlot-tlot, in the echoing night!
nearer he came and nearer! her face was like a light!
her eyes grew wide for a moment; she drew one last deep breath,
then her finger moved in the moonlight,
her musket shattered the moonlight,
shattered her breast in the moonlight and warned him-with her death.
He turned; he spurred to the west; he did not know who stood
bowed, with her head o'er the musket, drenched with her own red blood!
not till the dawn he heard it, his face grew grey to hear
how Bess, the landlord's daughter,
the landlord's black-eyed daughter,
had watched for her love in the moonlight, and died in the darkness there.
Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky,
with the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high!
blood-red were his spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat,
when they shot him down on the highway,
down like a dog on the highway,
and he lay in his blood on the highway, with a bunch of lace at his throat.
And still of a winter's night, they say, when the wind is in the trees,
when the moon is a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
when the road is a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
a highwayman comes riding-
riding-riding-
a highwayman comes riding, up to the old inn-door.
Over the cobbles he clatters and clangs in the dark inn-yard,
and he taps with his whip on the shutters, but all is locked and barred;
he whistles a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
but the landlord's black-eyed daughter,
Bess, the landlord's daughter,
plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.

The Last Legion
Please don't watch. Complete waste of time. Sad movie, sad characters and sad performances.
Aishwarya Rai - TOO FAKE, absolutely pathetic as a warrior. Horrible. I have never liked any of her performances or her looks (except for her eyes).
Collin Firth - Absolutely pathetic as a commander. Doesn't suit the role at all.
Ben Kingsley - Why would he want to do a movie like this, beats me.
Harry Van Gorkum plays Vortgyn - (the man in the golden mask). Absolutely pathetic character with nothing to do in the movie.
The whole idea of people pushing around THE NEW CAESAR is just too hard to swallow.
Regardless of the NEW CAESAR's age, he IS CAESAR - show him some respect will you. (I personally don't believe that being born into a blood-line implies you are superior, but - I am not a Roman living in 476 A.D.).
And when a legionnaire says HAIL CAESAR.. a bit of enthusiasm along those words is EXPECTED. But then, given the fact that the entire movie lacks any enthusiasm whatsoever... I guess one shouldn't make a fuss about this.

jab kabhi tera naam lete hain
jab kabhi tera naam lete hain
dil se hum intaqaam lete hain
meri barbaadiyon ke afsaane
mere yaaron ka naam lete hain
bas yahi ek jurm hai apna
hum muhabbat se kaam lete hain
har qadam par gire par sikhaa
kaise giraton ko thaam lete hain
hum bhatak kar junuun ki raahon mein
aql se intaqaam lete hain

Derren Brown
Amazing stuff.
If you guys can find the time and interest, do check out the ones on INSTANT CONVERSION (there are a few parts to it). Love the point he makes in the beginning, which is :
"
Hope this can get some people to start thinking sensibly and learn to identify showmanship (well of course there is showmanship), power of suggestion and basic psychology - as opposed to accepting such gimmicks as divine intervention or the healing touch or whatever..
Unfortunately not many are using their brains and are...
here I go again.. forget it. absolutely pointless. To each his own.. Cheers mate.. clink.

Ocean Breeze - Saddam's Yacht.

Long before he was deposed and publicly executed, lavishly living Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein commissioned several mega-yachts, including the "Qaddisat Saddam," built in 1981 and shrouded in mystery ever since. But the 269-foot floating palace, widely believed to be moored in Saudi Arabia, has surfaced in the South of France with an innocuous new name ("Ocean Breeze"—it's calming, not all murdery and rapey!). The price tag: $34 million.

Rush Hour 3

Stale jokes. Chris Tucker - more annoying than usual.
Not enough eye candy. As expected, the action sequences were fun to watch, but that was it.
Disappointed.

Aankh se duur na ho - dil se utar jaayegaa
aankh se duur na ho - dil se utar jaayegaa
vaqt ka kya hai - guzarta hai - guzar jaayegaa
itna maanuus na ho khilvat-e-gham se apni
tu kabhi khud ko bhi dekhegaa to dar jaayegaa
tum sar-e-raah-e-vafaa dekhte rah jaaoge
aur vo baam-e-rafaaqat se utar jaayegaa
zindagi teri ataa hai to ye jaanevaalaa
teri bakhshish teri dahaliz pe dhar jaayegaa
dubte dubte kashti to ochhaalaa de duun
main nahin - koi to saahil pe utar jaayegaa
zabt laazim hai magar dukh hai qayaamat ka 'faraz'
zaalim ab ke bhi na royegaa to mar jaayegaa

Khoye-Khoye chand
aaj shab jo chand ne hai roothne ki thaan li
gardishon mein hain sitare - baat humne maan li
andheri sayh zindagi ko sujhti nahin gali
ki aaj haath thaam lo - ek haath ki kami khali
kyun - khoye-khoye chand ki firak mein - talash mein udaas hai dil
kyun - apne aap se khafa-khafa zara-zara sa naraaz hai dil
yeh manzilen bhi khud hi tai kare
yeh faasle bhi khud hi tai kare
kyun - to raaston pe phir sahem-sahem sambhal-sambhal ke chalta hai yeh dil
kyun - khoye-khoye chand ki firak mein - talash mein udaas hai dil
kyun - apne aap se khafa-khafa zara-zara sa naraaz hai dil
zindgai sawaalon ke jawaab dhondnne chali
jawaab mein sawaalon ki ek lambi si ladi mili
saawal hi saawal hai - sujhti nahin gali
ki aaj haath thaam lo - ek haaath ki kami khali
kyun - tu aaj itna vaihshi hai mizaj mein majazz hai ae gham-e-dil
kyun - apne aap se khafa-khafa zara-zara sa naraaz hai dil
dil ko samjhaana keh do kya asaan hai
dil to fitrat se - sun lo na be-imaan hai
yeh khush nahin hai jo mila - bas maangta hi hai chalaa
jaanta hai har lagi ka - dard hi hai bas ek sila
jab kabhi yeh dil laga - dard hi humen mila
dil ki har lagi ka - sun lo dard hi ek sila
kyun - naye-naye se dard ki firak mein - talaash udaas hai dil
kyun - apne aap se khafa-khafa zara-zara sa naraaz hai dil
(Yes I did miss out one paragraph, I don't like that paragraph, it just screws up the song - for me).
vafaa ke sheesh mahal mein sajaa liya maine
vafaa ke sheesh mahal mein sajaa liya maine
vo ek dil jisse patthar banaa liya maine
ye soch kar ki na ho taak mein khushi koi
ghamon ki ot mein khud ko chhupaa liya maine
kabhi na khatm kiya maine roshani ka muhaaz
agar chiraag bujhaa, dil jalaa liya maine
kamaal ye hai ki jo dushman pe chalaanaa thaa
vo teer apne kaleje pe khaa liya maine
'qateel' jiss ki adaavat mein ek pyaar bhi thaa
us aadmi ko gale se lagaa liya maine

Early Christmas Present
17 year old girl, sends a text message to a 31 year old man, suggesting a threesome (as an early Christmas present), and sends him to the WRONG HOUSE! (EVIL, not to mention - how rude!)
Interesting bit, the girl asked him to remove his clothes and just walk in (in order to save time, of course).
Moron actually does it, walks into the house naked. gets arrested. The girl who sent the text message - gets arrested too.

Six Degrees

Started watching a new series - Six Degrees. So far watched only three episodes. It is watchable, nothing extraordinary about it (so far), and nothing too irritating about it either.
To be honest, the only reason I bothered with this is because of Bridget Moynahan.
Of course, like every other series, this one has a bit of issues, but so far most of them are tolerable. Besides, I was getting bored of Heroes. The damn thing is turning into a soap opera.

WHY CAN'T you be a GOOD human being?!?
Just received an email from a friend, who believes that I am NOT a good human being.
Which would all be fine (We are all entitled to our own opinion), except for the fact that, the basis of that statement was - "YOU DRINK YOU DOPE YOU SMOKE - WHY CAN'T YOU STOP THIS AND BE A GOOD HUMAN BEING?"
Well, with all due respect, I don't think any of those things have absolutely any implication on being a GOOD person.
There is alot more to being a GOOD person, than just being away from Alcohol, Tobacco and the likes.
Being a part of a charity organization or attending a place of worship regularly or contributing to an environmental cause - IS THAT ENOUGH to conclude that one is a GOOD human being?
Boy.. talk about stereotypes.
According to some, if you are actually having a good time in your life (I don't mean necessarily getting high, but having a good time in general), then you are DEFINITELY NOT A GOOD PERSON and God WILL punish you for actually going out to a club or spending time with your friends who don't share the same faith as yours. (Yes, have encountered some characters like this. Talk about Holier than thou).
At the same time, have also encountered people who say - "OMG you don't believe in THIS religion/god (yes, for some people, Religion equals God, God equals Religion, there is no distinction) - YOUR BELIEFS ARE WRONG BECAUSE OUR BELIEF IS THE ONLY TRUTH. HOW CAN YOU NOT ACCEPT THIS FAITH?"
So basically, discriminating against people and telling them that their beliefs are UNTRUE is also a requirement for BEING a GOOD PERSON. (haa!)
Having an open mind and actually questioning something that doesn't make sense - most likely translates that you are a disciple of the devil (if not the DEVIL HIMSELF).
I am not saying all the questions and doubts expressed are valid, sometimes the person might not be aware of the reasoning, and hence asks a question. So instead of shunning him/her out, why not just explain the thing or introduce them to a person who could clarify the question, instead of saying - "THIS IS MY BELIEF AND THIS IS THE ONLY TRUTH."
But then again, to each his own. I think I am a reasonably good human being (all things considered). My friends (the very few that I have) are of the same opinion too, but that definitely doesn't mean that everyone else should have the same opinion.
Just wish they would share a logical point (if any) that made them arrive at such conclusions. sigh.. hota hai, chalta hai, duniya hai
Woh karam ungliyon pe ginte hain
Zulm ka jinke kuch hisaab nahin!!
kissi nazar ko tera intezaar aaj bhi hai
Lyrics: Hasan Kamal ...
kissi nazar ko tera intezaar aaj bhi hai
kahaan ho tum ki yeh dil beqaraar aaj bhi hai
woh vaadiyan woh fizayen ki hum mile the jahaan
meri wafaa ka wahin par mazaar aaj bhi ha
na jaane dekh ke kyon unko yeh hua ehsaas
ki mere dil pe unhen ikhteyaar aaj bhi hai
woh pyaar jis ke liye humne chhod di duniya
wafa ki raah pe ghaayal woh pyaar aaj bhi hai
yakeen nahin hai magar aaj bhi yeh lagta hai
meri talaash mein shaayad bahaar aaj bhi hai
na pooch kitne mohabbat ke zakhm khaaye hain
ki jinko soch ke dil sogwaar aaj bhi hai
kissi nazar ko tera intezaar aaj bhi hai
kahaan ho tum ki yeh dil beqaraar aaj bhi hai

Zaraa si bhool mein hum, aashiyaan jalaa baithe
Ke dil ko dard ki ik dastaan banaa baithe
Chaman jalaa hai mera, in bhari bahaaron mein
Dhuaan dhuaan hai nazar - khoon hai nazaaron mein
Khizaa ki khaak se hum gulsitaan sajaa baithe
Jo dil hi saath na de, dhadkanon se kya hoga
Jo humsafar hi nahin raaston se kya hoga
Ke manzilon ke nishaan khud hi hum mita baithe
Jo tum nahin ho sanam, zindagi ka kya kije
Andhera dil mein mere, roshni ka kya kije
Ye zindagi ka diya, khud hi hum bujha baithe

Tum humaare nahin to kya gham hai
Hum tumhaare to hain, ye kya kam hai.
Husn ki shoukhiyaan zaraa dekho
Gaahe shola hai gaahe shabnam hai
Muskuraa do zaraa khuda ke liye
Sham-e-mehfil mein roshni kam hai
Ban gayaa hai ye zindagi ab to
Tujh se badhkar humen tera gham hai

Been thinking
Been thinking (I don't do it nearly enough). When you care about someone, you want that person to be happy. If the person is happy without you - sure it sucks, but - not like there is something you can do about it.
So basically, shit happens - move on. Look at the brighter side - The other person is happy now. Wasn't that the whole point anyways.
Yeah ok, so it WASN'T really the whole point... but.. Hota hai, Chalta hai, Duniya hai...
Kabhi kissi ko mukamal jahaan nahin milta
kahin zameen to kahin aasmaan nahin milta
Meri vafaayen yaad karoge
Meri vafaayen yaad karoge
ro-oge, fariyaad karoge
mujh ko to barbaad kiya hai
aur kise barbaad karoge
hum bhi hansenge tum par ik din
tum bhi kabhi fariyaad karoge
mahfil ki mahfil hai gam-gin
kis-kis kaa dil shaad karoge
dushman tak ko bhuul gaye ho
mujh ko tum kya yaad karoge
jaakar bhi naashaad kiya tha
aakar bhi naashaad karoge
chhodo bhi 'taseer' ki baaten
kab tak us ko yaad karoge
Nokia 3110 - EVOLVE?

When you see a cell phone model called Evolve, naturally one is curious to see what it offers.
The Nokia 3110 has the basic features: 1.3 Mp Cam, FM, Bluetooth, Infra-red and only 9 MB internal memory, but thankfully a micro SD slot. The battery will give you about 3.5 hrs talk time.
Doesn't support 3G and doesn't have WIFI either.
SO WHY CALL THE PHONE EVOLVE (??), When it has absolutely nothing new to offer and some of the stuff one would expect is missing too?
Reports suggest that the body panels have been made from some bio-sourced material . Cool, whatever (I honestly couldn't care less). Call the model ECO or something. A name like Evolve just gets our hopes up.

Because I Said So

Total chick flick, and if that wasn't bad enough, I have never been able to tolerate Diane Keaton (except for perhaps in The Godfather, but I guess I have always hated her since Godfather - II - when she tells Michael that she had an abortion).
The movie is supposed to be a romantic comedy. Well I didn't find it romantic, and neither did I find it funny. It was boring, predictable, annoying - in short - a complete waste of time.
The women might like it. (women eh!)

HTC Shift
Key Features
- 7-inch widescreen display
- 30-gigabyte hard drive
- QWERTY keyboard
- Microsoft Vista Business OS
- Windows Media Player 11
- Tri-Band UMTS/HSDPA
- Quad-Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0
Other than that, this thing comes with a built-in fingerprint sensor, an integrated camera, GPS, built in speakers, mic, USB port etc.
The SHIFT comes with two processors, implying - this thing can be used as a laptop (OS Windows Vista) or as a Pocket PC (Qualcomm Processor). Looks cool for a laptop.
I doubt I would ever use this as a cell phone. It is just too huge to be a phone. Yeah sure, one could use the headset or bluetooth or whatever, but I would seriously prefer to use this as a laptop only (that's just my view)
On Vista, you can have about 3 hrs of run time (impressive, given the size) . Stand by this thing can give you up to 53 hrs (Push email enabled).

mariz-e-mohobbat unhin ka fasaana
mariz-e-mohobbat unhin ka fasaana
sunaataa rahaa - dum nikalte nikalte
magar zikr-e-shaam-e-alam jab bhi aayaa
chiraag-e-sahar bujh gayaa jalte jalte
iraadaa thaa tark-e-muhabbat kaa lekin
fareb-e-tabassum mein phir aa gaye hum
abhi khaake thokar sambhalne na paaye
ki phir khaai thokar - sambhalte sambhalte
unhen khat mein likhaa thaa dil muztarib hai
javaab un kaa aayaa mohobbat na karte
tumhen dil lagaane ko kis ne kahaa thaa
bahal jaayegaa dil - bahalte bahalte
vo mehamaan rahe bhi to kab tak humaare
hui shammaa gul aur duube sitaare
"qamar" is qadar un ko jaldi thi ghar ki
vo ghar chal diye chaandni dhalte dhalte
