The Condemned

The basic plot is pretty similar to Battle Royale (Batoru rowaiaru - Japanese movie, pretty cool). Since I liked that, I figured I would like this too.

The movie isn't bad. Steve Austin can't act, and this movie is not about acting. So no problems there at all. I enjoyed some of the fights, enjoyed the explosions, loved the idea.

Had a problem with a few things. Firstly the love interest for Steve Austin. Not needed (in my opinion), and thankfully, there wasn't much on that.

I also don't think that there was any need to get the FBI bit in it either, just waste of footage if you ask me. They probably could've used that time to include another explosion or something and make it fun.

Another problem was the character Julie (Victoria/Tory Mussett). You did know what your boyfriend is up to and you are all cool with it and even go with him to the island and accompany him while he shoots his show.. and then .. you get all righteous. Annoying confused bitch.

Then, Goldy / Goldman (Rick Hoffman). Didn't like this character from the beginning. very annoying. But then - it wasn't so hard to ignore him.. (the good part about DVDs, you can always forward the parts you dont like.. :D)

Donna Sereno (Angie Milliken) - the holier than thou news reporter. I always thought a good reporter is supposed to give an unbiased report. ahh well, guess they can't stick to that even in the movies.

Ok, so it's not a brilliant movie, and it's definitely not Battle Royale (the first part was awesome btw). It doesn't have any performances or anything of that sort, but it's good enough for some time pass.

BTW.. just for the record, I do want to mention this, I don't see anything wrong with making a show like this. Reality TV with a twist. Finally one without any stupid contestants crying when the judges chuck them out. Simple rules.. you are out because you are dead.

If someone can cash in by making a show like this, I don't see why it's wrong? The contestants were all going to die anyway. They were all on death row. He just gave them a chance to live. Such a show would be entertaining.

Cheeni kum

It's a time pass movie. Not bad, definitely watchable. Did enjoy most of it. Although I do feel the child's character (Sexy) should've been toned down a bit. Towards the end, it did seem a bit of a drag.

Wish they had cut out the part with Amitabh trying to grab that pillar again .. it was just.. ahh well.. hota hai, chalta hai... bollywood hai.

Fiscal Responsibility

Smallville - Season 7

Season 7 is on.. finally (air date 27-09-07). Laura Vandervoort looks hot (she will be playing Super-Girl btw).

Lana Lang is alive.. and is in China, and looks horrid with a short blonde wig. Thankfully it was just for one scene and that too, in the end. Sorry if I spoilt it for anyone, but I for one was really glad when she was killed off in Season 6. I thought Clark could finally get on with other things....

Ahh well, shit happens.

Smallville isn't what it used to be, but it is watchable (sometimes it does get a bit irritating.. but so far, I have been able to put up with that).

Ocean's Thirteen

Not bad. I was actually expecting to be disappointed. Thankfully, it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. Sure it has its problems. Sure its not as interesting as the first or the second one, but sequels rarely are.

Of course, there were tons of things that could've been done to improve it, some more effort on the editing should've definitely made this better. This was fun and surely not as disastrous as most of the part 3s ended up.

Would've been nice, if a bit more effort was put into the story, I mean, a heist is always more fun than revenge (even if it is a con job). And yeah, I was a bit put off by the bribing and blackmailing. I am sure they could've come up with more creative work-arounds. It would've definitely been interesting.

Could we please take out the Oprah bit.. (the one in the end is fine.. but the earlier one, wasnt really needed.. besides, I hate Oprah)

All said and done, this isn't too bad a movie. Enjoyed this one.

Transformers

Loved the special effects. The movie was a disappointment though. Especially since I do remember the cartoon series. Sigh.. somethings shouldn't be messed around with.

I am sure I would've liked it better if they had re-released the cartoon series.

Magicians

It's not a great movie. Nothing memorable, not a laugh riot. But along with all that, its definitely NOT a waste of time either.

It's definitely watchable.

Do you blog like a terrorist (Crtsy Boing Boing)

Just wanted to share this..

You might think your anonymous online rants are oh-so-clever. But they'll give you away, too. A federally-funded artificial intelligence lab is figuring out how to track people over the Internet, based on how they write.

Go through the comments as well.

Pulsonic - Braun - OVERKILL!!!

Just saw the website for this new product from Braun..

The website is definitely impressive.. but .. in my view, it's an over-kill. I mean.. its JUST A SHAVER / TRIMMER.. it's not the Starship Enterprise..

Here is the link.

Do watch the Flash videos. (Click on the images above the picture of the Pulsonic). Seems like they would want you to believe, that this shaver was developed by NASA or something.

Pyar mujh se jo kiya tumne ..

Lyrics by Javed Akthar ...

pyaar mujh se jo - kiya tumne - to kya paaogi
mere haalat ki aandhi mein bikhar jaogi

ranj aur dard ki basti ka main baashindaa huun
ye to bas main huun ke is haal mein bhi zindaa huun
Khvaab kyun dekhuun vo - kal jiss pe main sharmindaa huun
main jo sharmindaa hua tum bhi to sharamaaogi

kyun mere saath koi aur pareshaan rahe
meri duniya hai jo viraan to viraan rahe
zindagi ka ye safar tum ko to aasaan rahe
humsafar mujh ko banaogi to pachhtaaogi

ek main kya abhi aayenge divaane kitne
abhi gunjege muhabbat ke taraane kitne
zindagi tum ko sunaayegi fasaane kitne
kyun samajhti ho mujhe bhuul nahi paaogi

The Buck stops here

Lost

Ok, I'll admit, this was interesting in the beginning.

I had heard so much about the show, I decided hell, why not. lets watch it. Besides, I didn't have anything else to watch either. (Prison Break season 3 started only on 17th Sept).

So, I downloaded three seasons of Lost. I am done watching the first two and started off with the third one.

I'll be honest, it's not the WORST series I've seen, but it's definitely not that great either. The characters have some serious issues.

Kate for example, still hasn't been able to decide, who she has the hots for - Sawyer or Jack? Well thank god it's only these two. In the beginning, I thought she would be getting it on with Sayid as well..

Jack - well what can I say.. this guy is just soo damn curious about everything.. What did he tell you (Asking Juliette, after he is done operating on Ben).

What do you see (asking Archa - the Thai girl and insisting that he gets marked). That's just SOME of it.. man,

If you ask me - the guy is a bit too stupid for a surgeon.

Sayid on the other hand, was on the bloody plane to go to LA to meet up with Nadia - apparently the love of his life, for whom he shot at his officials in Baghdad.. and then co-operated with the CIA or someone and had his friend shoot himself in Sydney.. (remember that)..

Well now.. on the island, apparently he forgets all about Nadia and promises Shannon that he will never leave her. (well what about Nadia? or have you given up on ever getting off the island?)

Talking about Shannon - I know what I saw.. I am in trauma, I am not useless, we will be rescued, why don't you believe me... I was kinda glad when she was shot by Anna lucia.

Now abt Anna.. (I call her Psycho bitch) What the hell is her problem?? Too bitchy. So someone took a shot at you, you lost your kid. But you already had your revenge. Didn't you shoot that guy? so WHY ARE YOU STILL SO BITCHY. It's not like everyone else is to be blamed for your miserable life. Thank god Michael shot her.

Michael - Confused state of disturbed mind.. Where is Walt.. here is Walt.. don't talk to Walt, Stay away from Walt, Walt - come back here, I will get Walt myself... I need your help.. I don't need your help.. get off my raft.. ohh.. where is walt.. I am his father.. Walt Walt Walt.. I will save you Walt.. (well that's pretty much his part).

He doesn't get killed, but he takes his annoying self and his son on a boat and is shown the way out (guess even the show's producers realised how irritating he was getting).

Claire - OMG.. SHUT UP WOMAN. My baby has a fever, what if he is infected. I will go find the vaccine,

I have no idea where to look but will someone come with me please. Lets not take the guys, lets make this a girl trip.

My point - BIG DEAL! IF HE IS INFECTED, there is nothing you can do about it. Just shut up and sit quietly. The doc said he will be fine in the morning. At least wait for a bit, and even if the kid isn't fine - WHAT CAN YOU or ANYONE ELSE DO ABOUT IT!!!

Before this crap, she slaps Charlie and asks him to get out.. Why? Because he lied about the heroin in the statue. UFFF.. Women!

The statue is still there, intact, and so it's obvious he hasn't used it.. ohhh forget it.. guess it was THAT time of the month, for her.

John - He was cool, in fact he was my favourite character. Until the guy loses it when he INSISTS that Jack push the button on the computer (the first time). The problem is, after that John gets even more annoying.. even more irritating. He does get back to normal after the hatch is blown up.

At present my favourite character is.. Desmond. Cool guy. Now that he can see flashes of future and all, I guess he might get a bit irritating in the following episodes (downloaded, but haven't watched them yet). but so far he is pretty cool.

Prison Break is back.

Season 3 is on, just watched the first episode (air date - 17-09-07), and it seems that this will be just as interesting (if not more) as the first two seasons.

Good Dog ...

Electronic Cigarette

Write up from the site:

Crown7 is an Art Deco styled tube which contains a cartridge and rechargeable battery.

The cartridge contains water, propylene glycol, nicotine, and a tobacco flavor.

One Crown7 cartridge is the equivalent to about two packs of cigarettes.

It is a wonderful invention that allows a person to virtually smoke anywhere!

It contains nicotine, but does not pollute the environment, nor offend people in the surrounding area, bar, home, workplace, car, any situation which would be a public place.

No Residual Clothing or Room Odor...

Complete list of features n benefits -Click here

Hmm, costs abt USD 65. guess this might be the answer to the smoking bans ... might just give this a shot. Would love to shut up some people.

Download Movies - continued

The link I had posted earlier, well here are more links from the same site. Hope this will ease out the language issues and navigation would be easier..

English Movie Selection Screen
Hindi Movie Selection Screen
Animated Movie Selection Screen

Book mark these, and hopefully when there are any new updates, they will appear as well.

Once you are on these pages, just click on the poster of the movie that you want to download (i admit the collection isn't huge, but hey, something is better than nothing.. and if you want to select from a huge selection.. then why not use torrents? hell lot more to choose from).

Once you click on the poster, the new page loads, and there are 3 icons. The one in the middle (that looks like a floppy disc), is the icon to click, if you want to download this movie.

Some more links, From the same site (hope I get them right. Latest episodes (from the particular season) on the first page. Earlier episodes from that season would be on the pages that follow.

Heroes:
Season 1

Prison Break:
Season 1
Season 2

Lost:
Season 1
Season 2
Season 3

Download Movies

For those of you who don't fancy using torrents or other P2ps, or for some reason just can't use them, here is a link.

Download movies (the ones I downloaded weren't Dvd rips but they were watchable), TV Shows (Lost, Prison Break etc.), Cartoons.

The site is in Arabic, but even if you have a bit of knowledge of the language, you can manage to navigate through.. the links on the left side would be of primary interest (the second one is for movies).

They have categories for English Movies, Arabic Movies and Hindi as well (the last time I checked, the only Hindi one they had was Zindagi Rocks).

the links work with download managers as well.

Just thought I'd put it up here, incase anyone is interested.

Craig's Happy feet.

Talking Movies

Well I finally managed to find the time to watch it.

Too many coincidences.. but thats fine (come on, its based on a comic).

I like super-hero movies.. just find it difficult to enjoy with the plot centred around his love life. it just doesn't work for me. Special effects were great. enjoyed those.. but that isn't an excuse for having a crappy plot.

Wish there was more of Venom .. would've been alot cooler.

I wouldn't say this was great, but for some reason, I enjoyed this more than Spiderman - 3 (never thought I would ever say that).

It's not that this doesn't have any problems.. sure it does. I honestly believe the movie would've been better without Dr. Doom. there would've been more footage to the Silver Surfer (SS).

SS powerless without the board and being interrogated by the army.. haa.. wish these people paid more attention to the comic.

Galactus destroyed - just like that - THAT really needed to be worked on. I mean, this thing/being is supposed to be pretty powerful and stuff, you can't just kill off a character like that with one explosion!

The FBI, NSA bla bla.. boring characters, extremely stupid - didn't do anything in the movie. They only managed to irritate you, whenever they were in the frame.

Get me the hackers, Get me this representative on the phone, Get me a landline, Get me a helicopter, Get me this, Get me that ..

What the hell did you do with ANY of that? Absolutely nothing....

The great part about the earlier versions was - a villain with a great attitude. That's what made John Mclain look even cooler (even if he was just talking over the phone).

The villain in this one.. just doesn't have that quality, that zing, that attitude.

Bruce Willis, well he looks older, but he still is the best part of the movie. That's what made this worth watching.

Nokia N95 8GB

I think its stupid not having a card slot. Its not that 8 gigs of memory is less by any means, its just that.. without an external memory card, transferring the stored data is going to be a hassle.

If there was an external memory card (even upto 2 gigs), all you had to do was take it out of your N95 8GB and shove it into the other phone you are using and there, you have most of the data. But since the entire 8 gigs is internal memory.. one would have to connect the N95 8GB to a computer.. transfer the data onto your hard-drive and now copy it onto the memory card of the other phone..

That's just a hassle, given that the whole thing could've been simplified, just by providing a card slot on the N95 8GB.

It seems even more pathetic since the N95 (the earlier one) DID have a card-slot. As per the specifications it can support a memory card of upto 2 gigs.

Although there have been some unconfirmed reports that the earlier version does support a 8 gig card as well, I just haven't been able to get my hands on the SanDisk 8 gig micro SD yet. Primary reason being, I don't really keep that much data on my cell phone, but it would definitely be interesting to see if the N95 (earlier version) would support it or not.

Just incase if it does, then the N95 8GB would be yet another blunder from Nokia.... but I have to admit.. it does look cool in Black.

Rocket Phone

And I thought the people at Nokia were out of their minds.... the 8GB N95 DOESNT have a cardslot.. the entire 8GB is internal flash memory (link from Gsm Arena). If you think thats stupid, did you have a chance to look at the PRISM series?

When I saw the above pics, I seriously thought this was a toy phone. Something to keep the little ones away from your cell phone.. but this is actually a real cell phone.. and I have absolutely no clue what made the manufacturers think that this cell would sell.

Here is the link ... if you can read the language, then do let me know what they were thinking.

The Lookout

Interesting movie (anyone remember Memento).

Didn't think I would enjoy this, but surprisingly I did. The ending is a bit of a let down (for me). I wanted something more... (actually, what I wanted was - a little less hollywood heroics from the male lead).

But all in all, not a bad movie. Definitely watchable.
