Interest rate cut

Main aur meri tanhaai

Kabhi kabhi humaare dil mein bhi yahi khyaal aate hain.. aur hum sochte hain.. kya unhein bhi kabhi humaara khyaal aata hoga?

main aur meri tanhaai, aksar yeh baatein karte hain
tum hoti to kaisa hota? tum yeh kehti, tum woh kehti,
tum iss baat pe hairan hoti, tum uss baat pe kitna hansti

tum hoti to aisa hota, tum hoti to waisa hota.

majboor yeh haalat, idhar bhi hain udhar bhi
tanhaai ki raat, idhar bhi hai udhar bhi
kahne ko bahut kuch hai, magar kisse kahen hum?
kab tak yuhin khamosh rahen aur sahen hum?

dil kahta hai, duniya ki har ek rasm utha den
deewar jo hum dono mein hai, aaj gidha den
kyon dil mein sulagte rahen - logon ko bata den
haan hum ko mohabbat hai. mohabbat hai mohabbat
ab dil mein yahi baat, idhar bhi hai, udhar bhi

Tanhaai

Javed Akhtar ...

tanhaai, tanhaai

dil ke raaste mein kaisi thokar maine khaayi
toote khwaab saare, ek maayusi hai chhaayi
har khushi so gayi, zindagi kho gayi
tumko jo pyaar kiya maine to sazaa main paayi
tanhaai, tanhaai, milon hai phaili hui tanhaai

khwaab mein dekha tha ek aanchal maine apne haathon mein
ab toote sapnon ke shishe chubte hai in aankhon mein
kal koi tha yahin, ab koi bhi nahin
banke naagin jaise hai saanson mein laheraayi
tanhaai, tanhaai, palkon pe kitne aansu hai laayi

kyon aisi umeed ki maine jo aise naakaam hui
door banaayi thi manzil to raste mein hi shaam hui
ab kahan jaaoon main, kisko samjhaaoon main
kya maine chaaha tha aur kyon kismat mein aayi
tanhaai, tanhaai, jaise andheron ki ho gehraayi

BMW Dealership gets super stupid

I am sure by now everyone would have heard and read about the issue with BMW Lincoln Nebraska.

In case you haven't, here is a summarized version of what has happened so far

"

BMW of Lincoln, Nebraska posted an auction on eBay for a brand new M3 Sedan for $60,000. Perhaps they were hoping for the kind of eBay madness that would push the price to six figures
the dealer doesn't want to give him the car. Not long after the auction ended, the winning bidder got a call from BMW of Nebraska telling him the auction was "a mistake," and that he couldn't have the car

Link

Now.. the guy who won the bid and wasn't being given the car posted about it on the web.. and obviously gathered millions of supporters who called (the dealership), threatened, abused, requested. bla bla bla bla..
Then it seemed like the dealership got a bit sensible..

"

BMW of Lincoln has agreed to sell me (KEN) the car at a price of 60K, with certain conditions. I'll be going over the conditions with the dealership tomorrow, and I hope to have everything finalized by tomorrow afternoon."

Link

now.. we thought it would be all over .. BUT!

"

Ken came this close to receiving the Bimmer today after his lawyer negotiated away the conditions that were demanded by the dealership. The first was that he not sell the car for two years, and the second was that he somehow "control the press" and end the onslaught of communiqués sent to the dealership by phone, fax, email

Ken was instructed to call BMW of Lincoln today and arrange his deposit over the phone by a certain time, but according to our distressed interlocutor, was instead lectured by the General Manager, one Fil Cataniam, for failing to stop the press from contacting the dealership. He refused to take Ken's credit card info over the phone, in effect reneging on the resolution that had previously been reached by the lawyers.

Link

Lawyer has send a letter to BMW asking for HELP

Link

Give him the car before he sues you seeking punitive damages (In my opinion, he should do that even if he does get the car)

Give him the car for free (a law suit is going to cost a hell lot more). Or, at least say sorry and Waive the documentation charges.

AT LEAST GIVE HIM THE BLOODY CAR!! IT S NOT LIKE HE ISN'T PAYING!!

Mile-High Shower Club

Emirates_A380_Shower

"

The Dubai-based airline (Emirates) will become the first commercial airline in the world to offer showers at 37,000ft when it installs the facility in first-class cabins on its new Airbus A380s.

Well it is going to cost you about USD 18,000 (First Class passengers - Dubai to New York from October 1st)  and apparently leaves a heavy carbon footprint. Basically the amount of water (an extra tonne) it will have to carry would be equivalent of carrying 12 extra passengers.

Is it that bad? Well apparently it is or I guess the environmentalists just like to make noise about everything. I mean, come on - 12 extra passengers, how bad could that be? Honestly speaking, I don't know and I don't care enough to find out either.

hmm I expected more.

Dainese say the suit uses a complicated arrangement of sensors contained in the suit’s aerodynamic hump to differentiate between normal movements on the bike or travelling over large bumps and a crash, so the airbag can inflate to provide protection to the rider’s neck in a crash.

The Mist

stephenkingsthemist_galleryposter

The book has a different ending.

I enjoyed it. But then I am a fan and I guess one has to be familiar with Stephen King's work to actually like this movie and know what to expect (my view).

There were parts in the movie that I watched again and again, because I just loved them. The scene where the religious fanatic (Marcia Gay Harden) is shot.... I was cheering at the top of my voice. Couldn't stop clapping. Wanted to kill that bitch myself.

The old woman's character (Irene) played by Frances Sternhagen, absolutely amazing in a few scenes. Loved it.

The ending, well, I wont say I didn't think this could be a possible ending. I wont say I didn't see it coming and I wont say that I didn't like it either. It was different from the book, but... it wasn't bad (my view).

Aai na phir nazar kahin jaane kidhar gai

Pehli Nazar Mein (Race)

The music is a lift-off from a Korean song - Sarang Hae Yo - which means I Love You (that video is after the lyrics). Not that I care, I like the music, but more than that, there are some lines in the song that are just... and of course Atif has a great voice for such songs.

pehli nazar mein kaise jaado kar diya
tera ban baitha hai mera jiya
jaane kya hoga - kya hoga kya pataa
is pal ko mil ke aa jee le zaraa

mein hoon yahaan - tu hai yahaan
meri baahon mein aa - aa bhi jaa

o jaan-e-jaan - dono jahaan
meri baahon mein aa - bhool jaa

baby i love you .....

har dua mein shaamil tera pyaar hai
bin tere lamha bhi dushwaar hai
dhadhkanon ko tujhe se hi darkaar hai
tujhse hai raahtein
tujhse hai chaahtein

tu jo milli - ek din mujhe
mein kahin ho gaya lapataa

o jaan-e-jaan - dono jahaan
meri baahon mein aa bhool jaa

kar diya deewana dard-e-khaas ne
chain chheena isqh ke ehsaas ne
bekhayaali di hai teri pyaas ne
chhaaya suroor hai
kuch to zaroor hai

yeh dooriyan - jeene na de
haal mera tujhe na pataa

o jaan-e-jaan - dono jahan
meri baahon mein aa - bhool jaa

In mid-April, SP1 will automatically download and install on Windows Vista–based PCs that have automatic updating turned on. This is the easiest and most convenient way to update a Windows Vista–based PC, and we strongly encourage using this method. You can, however, download and install Windows Vista SP1 manually.

And the data rates are high enough--up to about 6.5 megabits per second--that the connection could be used for video conferencing and telemedicine, he says

Bad Dream

Some days are like a bad dream. I wish that's what it was - a bad dream. Wake up...

I feel my wings have broken in your hands
I feel the words unspoken inside
And they pull you under
And I will give you anything you want, oh
You are all I wanted
All my dreams are falling down
Crawling around...

Somebody save me
Let your warm hands break right through
Somebody save me
I don't care how you do it
Just stay (stay with me)
Stay

C'mon, I've been waiting for you

So totally messed up in the head. Just can't seem to figure out why things are bothering me so much. I could very well ignore some issues. I have done so in the past. I know it means nothing. I know it would be better for everyone, if I just ignored some sentences in a conversation. But yet, I find it so difficult to ignore them now. The worst thing is... first the sentence bothers me and then I feel even more miserable because I haven't been able to ignore it, even though I knew I should!!

DNA database for POTENTIAL Criminals - UK

Put young children on DNA list, urge police

"

Primary school children should be eligible for the DNA database if they exhibit behaviour indicating they may become criminals in later life, according to Britain's most senior police forensics expert.

Would help if you could elaborate on what TYPE of behavior would indicate that.

Scotland Yard sure has way too much time on their hands (just wish they had the necessary brains too, to make use of that time)

So a kid has a brawl in the playing ground, or back answers a teacher, or rips off pages from his note book or is a bully, guess all of these would earn him the label of a potential criminal.

I am so happy I am done with school, otherwise my entire batch would definitely be on the potential criminal list.

Reminds of of something similar (in terms of stupidity) that the FBI had come up with a while back.

Terminator : The Sarah Connor Chronicles

showinfo

I loved Terminator 2, enjoyed the other movies in the series as well, but Terminator 2 remains my favorite. Just started off with this new series. Seems interesting, so far. But I have just watched the first episode. Will start the second one in a bit. Nice website as well.

Govt. will pay families to have girls - India

girl-child

Read the news article, then read the blog post my friend had put up. Here are my views on the topic:

I just think it is sad that a government has to resort to financial rewards in order to keep the girl child alive. But then again if it gets things done, why not! (Would this really get things done, that is the key question)

Of course, it would be nice if some (real) effort was made in educating the population about these issues. I just think it is sad to have to bribe the parents for letting a girl child live.

If I could have it my way, I would wait till the parents apply for the REWARD (sheesh) gather them all together, take the kids from them and shoot these bloody pathetic pricks.

While the discussion was going on, some people asked me why I didn't think this (bribe) was such a great approach. After all, it is just lending a helping hand to the people so that their BURDEN of bringing up a girl child is reduced to some degree.

BURDEN!! WTF! ok. This is why I don't think such people deserve any help:

I don't think there is anything wrong in helping the ones who need help, but here is a person who is having a tough time feeding oneself and yet has the balls (and the uterus) to bring another life into the world! If the child happens to be a girl they bang their own heads and then kill the child!! These people don't deserve help, they deserve death!

Furthermore, how about this:

Won't the families now be killing the boy child!? In that family's case, the same logic applies. Earlier they would get rid of the girl child reasoning that, once she grows up - too much expense for marriage and all that. 'Why bother, lets kill her instead'.

Now, if the mother gives birth to a boy child, the family could very well conclude: 'We are not going to get any compensation for this one, why bother with the expenses, lets kill him'.

About the move, well I don't think the primary intention is to get something going for the girl child. In my opinion, the decision's primary goal is to achieve some leverage in the upcoming elections. We all know how these things work, yet sadly, at times, we simply refuse to see things for what they are.

yes.. some will be helped.. "SOME". That is a good thing. But there are better alternatives!

A higher degree of advantage can be achieved with lower cost just by implementing a more sensible approach (somehow educating the people is not considered as a sensible approach anymore, wonder what happened).

The bad part of that sensible approach would be - no immediate benefit in the general elections - which apparently is of greater importance here.

An interesting point was put up by my friend KK (I wasn't aware of this, thanks for sharing), about how Jayalalitha had started a program to work on this (female infanticide) problem:

"

you know what Jayalalitha did for the girl child?
I think it was a novel idea...she launched a scheme to place a cradle in every district, town and village of Tamil Nadu and told the people..don't kill the child..leave her in the cradle and the government will take care of it......

A move like that, I support completely. That is definitely a much better way to work towards a solution, as opposed to bribing parents so they could kindly refrain from killing their child.

Charles Morgan, the company's Strategy Director, says: "The real challenge is to design and build a car that is fun to drive - a proper sports car. The use of ultra capacitors to store the surplus energy and then use this for acceleration and braking does promise a dynamic ride, especially when combined with our ultra light chassis. The pairing of weight to a minimum is our strength, and allows a much smaller fuel cell than conventionally thought necessary. This gives energy and yet more weight savings."

In The Valley of Elah

inthevalleyofelah_posterbig

The movie is still playing on my computer. I am about an hour and forty five minutes in. It stopped being interesting, a little over 20 minutes ago. So, by definition - it's not a complete waste of time.

Charlize Theron looks good, but she always looks good.

Tommy Lee Jones - Does what the script needed him to do.

Movie could have been better. There was a lot more that could have been done. I would love it if something was done to make a bit of sense to the entire plot which seemed to have started off reasonably well. Watching it feels like - somewhere along the middle, people just lost interest in making the movie and just wanted to get it over with.

Michael Clayton

michaelclayton_bigteaserposter

Boring movie or may be I just didn't get it. I did try though.

I watched it, didn't enjoy it. I thought it could be because I was tired with all the airport hopping I had been doing. Watched it again. Still couldn't enjoy it. BTW the quote "I am Shiva, the God of Death" - hmm a little too much, don't you think?

A movie about the big bad corporations, ruining the environment, lawyers having a problem with their conscience. Hmm, now how does one say this is boring and crappy -without being called insensitive or unconcerned about real issues (sure) or just too stupid to understand a good story.

Tip of the day - for those of you who will be watching the movie till the end, after Clooney gets into the cab, well you can walk away or just switch it off. Nothing happens, the credits roll by and Clooney just sits there. (psst.. actually walk away whenever you feel like, nothing much happens anyway)

Tilda Swinton got the Oscar for her role in this movie. The performance did not deserve an Oscar, but that's just my view.

Short trip to India

Left Kuwait on the 28th of Feb. Back on 1st March. All in all a fun trip. Except for a few issues here and there. Personal View - Nothing like a quick trip to India, to make you appreciate Kuwait a little more.

Booked on Gulf Air - Kuwait to Bahrain. Bahrain to B'lore.

Nice flight. Bahrain airport, crowded but managed rather well (in my view).

Had a great time in B'lore. In fact, had such a good time, that I couldn't make it to the airport in time to catch my flight back to Kuwait. Thankfully have a good friend (thanks a lot mate) who managed to get me booked on Jet Airways. B'lore - Cochin - Kuwait.

First About the flights.

Gulf Air was nice. Jet Airways was too good.

The crew is great, very friendly, very professional, great service. I hope it stays that way. The plane is great. Can't think of a single thing I would complain about. Excellent. Want to fly Jet Airways all the time. I would recommend Jet Airways to everyone (Premier Class).

Took me 5 hrs from Cochin to Kuwait. I wouldn't mind if it took longer.

logo-jetairways

About the Airports

The lounge in Kuwait Airport was ok, usual. The one in Bahrain, even better (obviously)
Bahrain Airport - too crowded but they manage things really well over there.
B'lore Domestic Terminal too crowded, but again managed very professionally.
Cochin - THUUUUU!!!! (I don't care what people have to say about the new airport, my experience was horrible).

I was in Cochin way early. Was watching a bit of Michael Clayton (on my laptop). NO POWER-POINT AVAILABLE IN THE LOUNGE that would support a standard 3 pin plug of my laptop charging cable!!! (no they couldn't even find an adapter).

  • There is no proper lounge after the immigration and security check in (just the normal waiting area outside the gates)- ???
  • No WIFI !
  • The toilet - NO SOAP!
  • No Smoking (no where AT ALL, no smokers zone).
  • No drinking (you can buy a bottle from the duty free, but you can't have a drink) - explanation - private Airport SAAR.. No liCenCCCE (i know that is not how one spells it, but that is how he pronounced it).

If you want to use the Business Class Lounge-facility, well first check-in, then come back to the Airport Lounge - avail the facility - and then go for immigration (WTF!).

If the Check-in counter isn't open, well tough luck. Eat and chill at the lounge and once the Check-in counter is open, go there, check-in and get your lounge coupon and come back.

The lounge won't accept foreign currency!!! (it's the fucking airport for crying out loud!!). I was informed that only the Duty Free section (after immigration) will accept foreign currency.

The guy at the lounge said I could go and get the money exchanged from the counter outside or he could do it for me. The way he said HE COULD DO IT FOR ME - it seemed like he was doing me a huge favor.

Till that point, I had figured - I will pay for the lounge.. big deal.. screw it. Why come back after a check-in just for a free coffee or two. But when he said that (he could exchange currency for me) and the way he said it, I figured these people don't deserve my money (or anybody else's for that matter).

I left my stuff over there (Laptop) to assure him I will return, insisted that I be checked-in immediately (they told me it was too early, I told them I couldn't care less and I wanted to be checked-in NOW), took the lounge card/coupon.. came back - threw it on his counter - and didn't tip him.

I usually tip even for substandard service - although not very generously.. but this was way way way below acceptable levels.
