Well, Steve Jobs says “it’s YOUR fault”. You don’t know how to hold the device. Steve demonstrates how to get good reception with Full Bars signal strength.

Err… well, it not only stops you from texting and driving, but also stops anyone in the car from using a phone?! Doesn’t sound like THAT good an idea, now does it?

I can think of better ways to spend USD 200.

Not to mention, what one should be focusing on is NOT how to stop people from doing something stupid, but actually making them realise why it shouldn’t be done, in the first place.

Stop scaring the general public. Can’t you see how pathetic they have become!?

Encouraging basic common sense would be a much better approach. Might take longer to achieve, but will have a more lasting effect.

You spend IRS 1,600 Crore on constructing the sea link. A multi lane highway. Return toll (for using the sea link) is IRS 75. And then, you put up a speed limit of 50 KMPH!!

If THAT wasn’t bad enough, the idiots have put up SPEED BREAKERS on a fucking multi lane highway! Speed breakers similar to the ones we have in the parking lot of Avenues!

Tumhen Apna Banaane Ki Kasam - Sadak

Lyrics – Sameer

The other day I was chatting with a friend of mine, and she put up links to these wonderful songs. There were a number of songs that were shared across the chat, yesterday evening, but the two that really got to me were this one and Tumse Mil Ke

Given that I have been in a rather miserable mood for a while now, it felt nice listening to these songs. Puraani yaaden.

Ek puraana mausam lauta… yaad bhari purvaai bhi
Aisa to kam hi hota hai - woh bhi hon, tanhai bhi

Thanks Manjula. Really made my day.

Tumhen apna banaane ki kasam - khaai hai, khaai hai
Teri aankhon mein chaahat hi nazar - aayi hai, aayi hai

Mohabbat kya hai main sab ko bataa doonga
Zamaane ko tere aage jhuka doonga
Teri ulfat, meri jaana, voh rang - laayi hai, laayi hai

Tere honton se main shabnam churaaoonga
Tere aanchal tale jeevan bitaaoonga
Meri nas nas mein tu banke lahoo - samaayi hai, samaayi hai

Teri baahon mein hain, dono jahaan mere
Main kuch bhi to nahin, dilbar bina tere
Tujhe paa ke zamaane ki khushi – paayi hai, paayi hai

Right Here - Staind

I know I've been mistaken, but just give me a break and see the changes that I have made
I've got some imperfections, but how can you collect them all and throw them in my face!

But you always find a way - to keep me right here waiting
You always find the words to say - to keep me right here waiting
And if you chose to walk away - I'd still be right here waiting
Searching for the things to say - to keep you right here waiting

I hope you're not intending, to be so condescending - it's as much as I can take
and you're so independent, you just refuse to bend - so I keep bending till I break!

But you always find a way - to keep me right here waiting
You always find the words to say - to keep me right here waiting
And if you chose to walk away - I'd still be right here waiting
Searching for the things to say - to keep you right here waiting

I've made a commitment
I'm willing to bleed for you
I needed fulfilment
I found what I need in you

Why can't you just forgive me,
I don't want to relive all the mistakes I've made along the way

But I always find a way - to keep you right here waiting (yeah, right!)
I always find the words to say - to keep you right here waiting

But you always find a way - to keep me right here waiting
You always find the words to say - to keep me right here waiting
And if I chose to walk away - would you be right here waiting??
Searching for the things to say - to keep me right here waiting??

Zain Roaming Services

zain_logo

Some time last week, the guys at Zain decided to UPDATE their system. One of the result of the update (that I know of) is that the Roaming Service has been split. Now the subscriber has the option to choose between Voice & SMS Roaming or Voice, SMS & Data Roaming.

What the update did was – all subscribers were given Voice & SMS Roaming by default and Data Roaming was deactivated. If a subscriber wants Data services while roaming, Zain will activate that too, but on receiving the subscriber’s request.

The Problem - People who were already using Data services on roaming (and are out of Kuwait) didn’t know about this and their BlackBerry’s would no longer register on EDGE. Only GSM coverage!

My sister (who is in Bombay, using her Kuwait line) told me that her BlackBerry just stopped working. I called up Zain’s call centre here and they assured me everything was fine from here.

I figured perhaps the SIM card could be corrupted, so yesterday decided to go and get a replacement SIM card for the same number and would switch it when I go to Bombay this weekend.

When I spoke to the counter staff at Zain’s office (very helpful), I was told about the update. I asked him to activate Data roaming as well. Called up my sister and asked her to restart her BlackBerry. EDGE is on, BlackBerry working fine.

I don’t really see the benefit in splitting the Roaming Services like this, but for whatever reason they did it, the least they could do was inform the subscriber before the switch!

Citibank Online Mobile Recharge

Just did a recharge (in Bombay, it’s called Top Up) for the cell phones folks are using in Bombay. Citibank does make life easy. I had seen the option earlier but never really bothered to give it a shot.

Tried it out for the first time today. An Online Authorization Code (OAC) is required to authorize the transaction. I got the OAC on my email address, activated the Payee and that’s it.

Prince Of Persia : The Sands Of Time

Picture 1

Surprisingly amusing.

Was expecting this to be disappointing, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I had anticipated. In fact, I found it rather entertaining. Seemed a bit of a drag, towards the end but, as I said - this one wasn’t too bad.

Besides, Gemma Arterton is definitely easy on the eyes. As sure as I was that I WOULD NOT be bothering with Transformers 3, turns out I just might have to if she ends up being cast in the film. (Transformers 2 was just too blaaaa for my taste)

Blow

blow_poster

Watched this one (YET AGAIN) last evening and enjoyed it just as much as I did when I watched it the first time.

Wish they would make more films like this.

Watching the tele. Movies, Shows anything. Just trying to keep my mind off things. Need to go for a haircut. Been months. Don’t think I can ignore it anymore. Need to get the car serviced as well. Most of all, need to get things back to what they used to be. Life was never completely rosy but it really wasn’t THIS bad…

Have had my share of problems but there was always something I could do to fix it. Now…. I just don’t know how to fix it.

Unthinkable

poster

The casting is impressive. In fact, that’s one of the main reasons I bothered with the film. Giving credit where it’s due, Samuel Jackson does a wonderful job. It’s been a while since I enjoyed watching him on screen.

I find it hard to take Michael Sheen (Yousef / Younger) seriously as a terrorist. A retard – yes. A terrorist – nope. The demands he makes just help in convincing me that he is more of a retard than a terrorist.

Carrie-Anne Moss (Agent Helen Brody) was behaving more like a college lecturer than an FBI agent. Found that rather ticking off. There are definitely better ways of depicting that character.

The film, on the whole (in my opinion) was ridiculous. The ‘demands’ were laughable. I am sure it will take a lot more than 4 nuclear bombs to change the policies of any nation – let alone America. Well, not unless one of those bombs were to be placed in, say – the Oval Office (That too, in my view would give them a small chance. Still no guarantee).

I hope my post doesn’t get flagged for that last line. It’s a movie review – people. Nothing else!

Exam

exam-movie-poster

Yawn.

Too long. Too much yapping. Boring. Waste of time. Pointless.

Chukwudi lwuji (Black) talks for absolutely no reason and is extremely irritating. Don’t know why he feels the need to explain everything that’s happening. Even the most obvious and basic concepts! Black light, UV rays, Infra Red, Developing Agents…. Hated him.

Luke Mably (White) didn’t have to be so annoying. A bit too loud. The further the film runs, the more annoying he gets.

Adar Beck (Dark) - Simply put – Pissing off. Hated this character the most!

Ass-Kicking-President

Solomon Kane

solomon-kane-teaser-poster_1233286313_640w

I have seen better films.

The action sequences were ok (at best). As I said, I have seen better. The screenplay is seriously lacking and isn’t what I would term ‘engaging’. Ruthless cruel pirate turns to god in one minute when he is confronted by Reaper uncle errr.. OK.

Takes shelter in a church from where he is just kicked out without any explanation (guess he wasn't paying the rent or the church managed to spend of all the donation he had given).

For some reason, the devil seems a bit too interested in Solomon’s soul. No real explanation given here, but considering the elaborate plans and plots the devil makes for his soul, there must be something really special about Solomon. So, the guy fights well. That really can’t be the only reason. Would perhaps make more sense if it was something about his bloodline / lineage or that sort of thing.

The girl being marked and all that bla bla. Well I was expecting it to have SOME relevance. Relevance – another word that seems to have lost all meaning.

Of course, if a relationship is not working - it’s better to end it at the earliest, instead of dragging it on and prolonging the misery for yourself (not to mention, the other person). There are a lot of uncertainties in life, for sure. But SOME things can be and SHOULD BE thought through.

With all the shit that’s going on, and when we guys have sit downs to try to resolve these issues - it’s just pissing off to know that IF ONLY one of the individuals involved had bothered to open up their mouth and speak their mind – A LOT OF SHIT could have been easily avoided.

With every passing day, it’s becoming evident that the population is (DE-)evolving into a senseless species. Remember the film Idiocracy? Seems like that’s exactly where we are headed. A brainless race.

Gulf-Surrender

Hate it when good people end up in bad relationships. Some people deserve better (I might not be one of them, but there are some who REALLY do deserve better).

In this year alone – two of my friends have gotten out of messed up relationships. The marriage has pretty much gone to hell for both of them.

The other day was talking to yet another friend of mine (fortunately happy in her relationship), who has been married for two years, and she says “It feels like I got married 10 years ago. Lately with all the crap happening around and relationships going from fucked to super fucked, it feels like there has been a huge revision in the entire concept of relationships”.

Sigh…
