MI6 or M16?!

Surely this is a typo.

  • MI6 - Military Intelligence - Section 6
  • M16 - That's a rifle!

I don't think I am wrong, but if anyone has heard of an Intelligence Agency named M16, then please let me know. I would want to update my info (and would definitely retract this post).

Dil Dhadakne Do

There was absolutely no need for Anushka Sharma (she looks absolutely horrid) and Farhan Akhtar. Unnecessary characters adding to the length of the film without contributing anything significant to the plot. Those two out of the script, the film would've been better paced.

That said… Surprisingly, the film wasn't as bad as I had expected it to be. Good enough for a one time watch, at least.

Zipper

Interesting.

Took me some time to get over the annoying Lena Headey (just have this feeling of extreme revulsion when I see her face). Once I was over that, it was possible to enjoy this drama. Not bad.

San Andreas

Crap! Horrible screenplay. Most of the lines are pathetic. "He left you?!" and then leaving a message on Riddick's voicemail… Seriously?! The timing and the delivery of that sequence couldn't have been worse.

The reporter stating that the University team did 'predict' this disaster but no one listened, is just… [don't have the right word for this chutiyapa]. It was only at the START of the disastrous day that Lawrence was able to conclusively confirm that his laptop and a bunch of sensors were PREDICTING (whatever bullshit it was expected to predict).

Paul Giamatti and Archie Panjabi are reasonably talented actors and they have been wasted in this film.

Carla Gugino and Alexandra Daddario - NOT good looking. Tits bouncing or not. Bikini / hot pants - nothing works.

Waste of time. Bullshit film.

Avengers - Age Of Ultron

Watchable. Should've been better, though.

James Spader - Couldn't have been a better choice for Ultron. Excellent!

Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) - Bad acting. Really bad.

Captain America - Waste as always. This guy is boring.

Nick Fury, War Machine, Maria Hill - Waste

Bruce Banner - Pretty ok, but in the sequence where Bruce and Stark chit chat about Ultron (the first time), Bruce looks lame. Seems like they are tying too hard.

Black Widow - Pretty ok, but the lullaby shit looks ridiculous onscreen.

Hawkeye - Character is relatively better when compared to the earlier film, but his limited moves with the bow just seems too videogame-ish.

Club Life

The plot was interesting. Had some potential. The acting was horrible.

Hmmm

"

With tobacco linked to up to 900,000 deaths a year in the country, the government wants to raise the minimum smoking age to 21 from 18, and ban the sale of single cigarettes, which make up 70 per cent of overall sales.

Before taking its proposals to Parliament, the government in January asked for public suggestions.

The result was unprecedented: 45,000 e-mails and more than 100,000 letters delivered by mail, in white and brown sacks stacked up in the health ministry, beside the desks of officials working on computers.

Analysing and collating public responses is crucial for the legislative process to move forward. The sheer volume has left officials stumped, with some fearing that it could take as much as five months to sift through the letters.

Link

Legislative process taking public response into account?!?

This sure is impressive. Hats off. A rather bold position to take. This will be a challenge.

BUT HOLD ON - I don't recall the government taking any public suggestions when it was coming up with the land-bill? Or when they decided to block 800 odd websites? Or when they decided to… well you get the point.

I am in favour of smoking and staunchly support every delay, anywhere in the world, on a ban on Tobacco sale/marketing. Obviously I do not have a problem with the delay in the tobacco-control legislation in India. But I do have a problem with the explanations being offered. Chutiya samjh rakha hai kya?

Some Kind Of Beautiful

Not too bad a film. Actually enjoyed watching this one.

Mad Max Fury Road

Senseless. Pointless.

Nothing to say about the acting or the lack of it. BUT… at least it was fun to watch the chases, explosions, shooting sequences. Not a complete waste of time.

Time Out Of Mind

Yawn…

Couldn't sit through the entire thing. Completely pointless. Boring crap.

DropBox - USB Key Authentication

Sure we could talk about how to use this on mobiles / devices without a USB port or will this work with anything other than Chrome or how long will it take to be able to use this across platforms. BUT, what I really want to ask is:

If one is fine with carrying around the USB drive/stick at all times (in order to access the DropBox more securely), then why doesn't this person just opt for storing his data/files on that USB drive itself?!

Paxis Backpack - Useful Innovation

In the midst of pointless idiotic gimmicks being hailed as revolutionary and innovative, it's refreshing to see an innovation that is useful and also justifies the use of the term.

The Implicit 'Too'…

"

The phrase "Black lives matter" carries an implicit "too" at the end; it's saying that black lives should also matter. Saying "all lives matter" is dismissing the very problems that the phrase is trying to draw attention to.

Why "All Lives Matter" instead of "Black Lives Matter" is such a stupid thing to say

If you expect everyone to acknowledge the existence of the 'implicit too', then it's only fair for people like me to expect people like you to acknowledge that all lives implicitly include black lives as well AND saying 'All Lives Matter' does not in any way imply that one is ignoring your right to exist.

Also, I would like to mention - It wouldn't mark the end of the world if people would start speaking / writing / typing complete words and forming complete sentences. It really would be a lot more helpful than an unnecessary (and ill-conceived) rant (irrespective of the support it gets from the mainstream media or social networks).

'Selfie Against Dowry' Campaign

I have spoken about such 'campaigns' earlier as well [Link]. Pretty sure that I am NOT the only one.

WHY do these things get so hyped? What's the bloody point? This news article attempts to answer similar questions:

"

Narender Kumar, an Army man deployed in New Delhi, said he was excited about the campaign against dowry. Kumar, who belongs to Chimnawas village in Rewari, has sent a selfie with his wife, Antu Kumari, 22, to the panchayat. "Such a campaign will encourage more people like me who do not believe in dowry," said Kumar, adding that dowry was still prevalent in Ahirwal belt of Haryana, where he comes from.

Dear Mr. Narender Kumar - I hope you understand that people like you are not the intended target this 'campaign' should be attempting to reach. One does not initiate a literacy drive to educate the already educated. One does not initiate an English speaking course for someone who is already fluent in English.

Awareness is required for those who are NOT AWARE. Not for the ones who are already aware.

Also from the article:

"

Bibipur sarpanch Sunil Jaglan said he has received around 180 entries on his WhatsApp account. "We are getting pictures from other states and other countries too," he said. The last date to submit selfies is August 20 and those with best pictures would be honoured on August 26.

  • The initiators of this idiotic campaign feel that there wont be any need to create AWARENESS against dowry after 20-08-2015.
  • What is the criteria for selecting the BEST PICTURES? One in which the bride is not aflame? One with proper lighting? Most photogenic couple? Is this a selfie contest?
  • The sarpanch wants to 'honour' people who can take good photographs?!

Dikhaawon pe mat jaao. Apni akal ladaao

The problem of dowry (or female infanticide) or any social issue IS NOT GOING TO GO AWAY with selfies or trending topics on twitter!
