TOI got it wrong in the headline. Then got it wrong again in the article!

Rishi Kapoor – Amazing.

Shruti Hassan – Impressive.

Irrfan Khan – Not bad. Some parts played out exceptionally well.

About the film – I think the film is average (at best). Some great one-liners though.

Disclamer ?!?

Just hit play and this typo showed up immediately after the Censor Board certificate.

Who would be responsible for checking on this? Any ideas?

This Is How It's Done!

Thanks Ameeta

Present day anchors could learn a lot from this clip.

Look at Karan Thapar - This is how you ask questions. This is how you put forward a point. You don't BARK into the camera or yell at the guest. You don't interrupt them repeatedly. You make your point and give them a chance to answer.

THAT is my problem with a major portion of the media today.

Now, look at Modi - This is what you don't do! You can't always do interviews with pre-arranged questions. Especially NOT if you are a prospective PM candidate!

THAT is my problem with Modi.

Err… Priyanka Chopra??

'Breaking News' would make a lot more sense if the channels would employ competent staff.

Now You See Me

It was a fun film, but I would have definitely enjoyed it a lot more if the film was simply a heist flick. The revenge angle put me off.

In my view, the part of justifying the actions was… err unnecessary. I wouldn't have a problem with a simpler Robin Hood approach sans the connection to Lionel Shrike. A heist film with a Robin Hood angle would have been way better than the revenge angle.

Can Not Serve Summons Because Baba Is Meditating !!

Two Rajasthan policemen have been waiting for hours to serve summons on self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, who has been accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in his ashram in Jodhpur.

The policemen came to Asaram's Indore ashram at 6 am this morning, but were told by his followers that they would have to wait, "the Baba is meditating."

This is beyond ridiculous!

U.S. Secrets

Democracy is the most significant impediment to the growth of a nation.

- Not sure if anyone else has said it or not but I came up with this last week.

'IF' Investments Start ?!

If investments start, many things will happen... demand for various things will increase

Surely, you meant ONCE investments start!

Many things will happen - Yes. More investments will lead to more accusations of corruption, more committees and indefinite stalling of actual investments.

Expecting a deal that would be free of any corruption whatsoever would be naive, but could you guys be a little sensible about it (this time at least)? Khaao. Khaane se kaun manaa kar raha hai. From every INR 100 spent, no one will have a problem if you syphon off INR 10. Distribute this among everyone. Keep the people involved (and the opposition) happy. Khaate to sab hain. At least INR 90 would be spent as intended.

Considering you are looting the exchequer, there shouldn't be any reason to feel bad about receiving a reduced share. Loss of potential income is not a REAL LOSS. Waise bhi, haraam ki kamaai mein thodi kammi ho bhi jaayegi to kaunsi badi baat hai?! Zyaada laalach nahin karna chaahiye. Mil baant ke khaao - pyaar badhta hai.

And if it is not too much to ask for, can we please get rid of CAG?

Make Up Your Mind!

You can't even draft a proper report? Pathetic.

First you say that you are keen on getting the investment cycle started again, then you go ahead and say Investment cycle has started… WHICH ONE IS IT!? Did the status change during the presentation of this ridiculous report?!

Buddha's Begging Bowl

A strong demand for bringing back the begging bowl of Lord Buddha from an Afghan museum and installing it at its "original" place at Vaishali in Bihar was made by RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh in Lok Sabha on Monday.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, he said the Buddha, who was on his way to attain 'nirvana' (salvation), had presented the 'bhikshapatra' (begging bowl) to the people of Vaishali.

The bowl was later taken away to the capital of Kanishka, 'Purushputra' (now Peshawar), by invaders and then further to Kandahar (then Gandhar), Singh, who represents Vaishali constituency, said, adding several noted historians have written about the historicity of the vase.

Buddha's Begging Bowl being discussed in Lok Sabha? Really?!!

RJD leaders and other politicians always do a great job when it comes to begging for votes (election time). Other than that, they are doing a bang up job of looting the exchequer (clearly, no need to beg for money). It is not as if this historically significant begging bowl will turn them into better beggars.

So, why raise a non issue in the Parliament? Historically significant or not - Is this begging bowl really THAT important (considering the state of your country)? You couldn't come up with anything relevant to discuss in the Lok Sabha? Is this really the best use of the Parliament's time? A begging bowl?!!

If you ARE going to talk about Buddha, then how about something more constructive. Now what could that be…. hmmm… How about his teachings?! Some pointers:

Buddha taught that the root of all suffering is desire.

…These are the three ultimate causes of suffering:

  • Greed and desire, represented in art by a rooster
  • Ignorance or delusion, represented by a pig
  • Hatred and destructive urges, represented by a snake

Definitely better material for a chit chat session than demanding the return of the begging bowl! Don't you think?

Who gives a flying fuck about the bloody begging bowl!? What difference does it make?! Even Buddha couldn't take the freaking bowl with him… so why don't we all just grow up and focus on issues that matter! Or is that too much to ask for?

Dikhaawon pe mat jaao… apni akal ladaao!

Suits – Season 2

Just in case I wasn't clear enough in my previous post – This isn't an intelligent court room drama. It is witty. Pretty slick.

Done with Season 2. A bit slow, when compared to Season 1 but watchable.

Will wait till Season 3 is done airing and then watch it all in one go.

Suits – Season 1

Official Website

Slick! Well paced. Just the right amount of eye-candy to maintain interest. Not bad.

Very different from Shark, but just as much fun (so far, at least). Yet to find any character to hate or get annoyed with. That is saying a lot, considering how easily I get worked up / irritated.

Chinese Troops Intrude Into Arunachal, Stay For Over Two Days

NEW DELHI: In yet another face-off with Indian soldiers, Chinese troops had come more than 20 kilometres inside Indian territory in Chaglagam area of Arunachal Pradesh on August 13 and stayed there for over two days.

However, Army headquarters sought to play down the incursion, saying the Chinese troops have gone back to their area and such incidents keep taking place as both sides enter areas claimed by the other side while patrolling the disputed Line of Actual Control (LAC).

…after they were stopped by the Indian troops, the two sides showed banners to each other to leave the area, sources said here.

the two sides held to their positions and the Chinese soldiers left after staying put for two-three days, they said.

"such incidents keep taking place as both sides enter areas claimed by the other side while patrolling the disputed Line of Actual Control" - Hmmm. So, how many times have the Indian troops crossed into the Chinese territory? Bolo bolo?

"two sides showed banners to each other to leave the area" - A cock fight would have more action and conviction than this pathetic display of banners! Apne banners ko apni gaand mein khud hi daalkar ghar baith jaao. Or is it that you need permission from the Indian government to take that action as well?? Perhaps, if you wait long enough - the Chinese troops will do it for you.

"two sides held to their positions and the Chinese soldiers left after staying put for two-three days" - Oye! Akal ke dushman - If the Indian troops were in fact HOLDING their position then the Chinese wouldn't be able to camp out there for 2-3 days, now would they!!? At best, it can be said that the Indian troops stopped the Chinese from going further. They definitely did NOT hold their position. Samjhe ya mandarin mein samjhaaon?

Perhaps the army/troops require orders/approvals/authorisation before taking some actions. Correct me if I am wrong - Troops deployed on the border have a clear enough mandate, isn't it? Primary objective being secure the border or territory.

The 'We were waiting for orders' definitely holds weight IF the army was being deployed in a civilian area. BUT when the troops are deployed at a border, do they STILL need to wait for orders to stop incursion attempts?!?!

'Crush' of pilgrims?? Surely, you meant RUSH of pilgrims.

Impossible To Please Some People

35 Idiots Get Run Down By A Train

At least 35 persons were feared dead and 30 others injured after being hit by Saharsa-Patna Rajyarani Express at Dhamara halt, 200km from Patna, Monday morning.

…The victims, most of them kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva), were in a hurry to get down from a passenger train to rush to the nearby Katyani temple.

“But unfortunately they got down from the passenger train and headed for the temple at the same time Rajyarani Express entered the station,” said a police officer on the condition of anonymity.

"We have information that at least 10 pilgrims were killed while they were crossing the tracks despite the red signal," said railway spokesman Amitabh Prabhakar. He said the toll is likely to rise.

However, the people blamed the local railway authorities for the accident and set fire to Rajyarani Express and two other trains besides taking hostage five to six officials, including the loco pilot of Rajyarani Express.

Some news sites are running this story with the headline Train Runs Over Pilgrims. That is clearly NOT the case! If one refuses to use his/her brain, then such 'accidents' are bound to happen. It is just a question of WHEN it happens.

As the Hindustan Times article above states: "The victims, most of them kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva), were in a hurry to get down from a passenger train to rush to the nearby Katyani temple".

In my view, the train did a huge favour for these idiots devotees by sending them directly to their intended destination. They were in a rush to visit the temple, the train helped unite these good for nothing /worthless / social menace worshippers with their maker. The locals should not be blaming the railway authorities, but thanking and praising them for the assistance they have offered to the kanwariyas.

It would be best if the locals (the ones who have set the coaches ablaze, and are holding the officials as hostages) are also given a one way express ticket straight to their maker. They can even sympathise with the dead kanwariyas once they are there.

Duniya mein jaahilon ki kammi nahin hai. If you ask me, the world is definitely better off without these 35 idiots.

Just because one is successful, doesn't mean that others should EXPECT him to be charitable. Charity is supposed to be VOLUNTARY. Or is it that somewhere along the road, people forgot this basic concept?!

Look, I am sorry that millions of people are starving all over the world. BUT I am not obligated to feed each and every one of them… or even one of them. There is no obligation. I will help only if I want to help. I will donate only if I want to donate. The world does not owe us a living… similarly, I do NOT owe it to the poor or the needy.

IF and WHEN I choose to do so, is entirely up to me. Also, please note - Just because my contribution to some charity doesn't get published in a gazette doesn't mean that I have not contributed. Some of us do not like the idea of publicising our donations. Most improper. Undignified approach.

We are expected to pay taxes (if applicable) to the government - on the income earned in that particular country. From the collected taxes, the government provides public services, subsidies, social welfare or whatever. Paying taxes is mandatory and with that my obligation has been fulfilled. Do NOT expect me to be apologetic for making more money than you. I am NOT a success BECAUSE of you. In fact, I am a success IN SPITE of you!

If you feel SO BAD for the starving population, then use YOUR money to feed them. How dare you tell me how I SHOULD spend my money?! Who died and made you the king of the world?! Saale chotte log, neech zaat!!

Bhikhaari bheekh maangte hain. Demand nahin karte. Tumko bheekh den ya na den, ye faislaa karne ka haq HUMAARA hai… tumhaara nahin!

All great truths begin as blasphemies.

Ye Sheeshe, Ye Sapne, Ye Rishte, Ye Dhaage

Sudarshan Faakir…

Ye sheeshe, ye sapne, ye rishte, ye dhaage
Kise kya khabar hai kahaan tuut jaayen
Muhabbat ke dariya mein tinke vafaa ke
Na jaane ye kis mod par doob jaayen

Ajab dil ki basti, ajab dil ki vaadi
Har ek mod mausam nai khvaahishon ka
Lagaaye hain humne bhi sapnon ke paudhe
Magar kya bharosa yahaan baarishon ka

Muraadon ki manzil ke sapnon mein khoye
Muhabbat ki raahon pe hum chal pade the
Zaraa door chal ke jab aankhen khuli to
Kadi dhuup mein hum akele khade the

Jinhen dil se chaahaa, jinhen dil se pujaa
Nazar aa rahe hain vahi ajnabi se
Ravaayat hai shaayad ye sadiyon puraani
Shikaayat nahi hai koi zindagi se

Praann Jaaye Par Show Na Miss Ho Jaaye

Chennai Express

Being fair - Not as bad as I had expected. Some of the 'jokes' were actually good (surprisingly). Another surprise for me was Deepika. After watching the promos, I was pretty sure I didn't want to see Deepika in those outfits and mouthing those idiotic dialogues in that pathetic accent. BUT, she managed to look great even in this character (not throughout, but for most of it).

Senseless plot - OBVIOUSLY. I mean - it's a Bollywood flick… directed by Rohit Shetty… starring SRK. If anyone is expecting a sensible storyline then THAT person needs help.

For most of the film, it seems that SRK is trying way too hard. It is rather obvious.

Another problem is that there is just way too much Tamil. It isn't a problem for the audience watching this in theatres that show the film with English subtitles (Like in the Middle East). But that would not be the case for most of the theatres in North India (for sure).

The songs are horrible. Not a single hummable track. The 'tribute' to Rajnikanth - err… it is more like an insult (in my view)! Of course, Deepika looks great in the song, but as a tribute to Rajni - this was sad!

Digital Star Of The Year ??

Came across this while going through the Winners List for IIFA 2013. In 2012, Zee Cine Awards had also added a ridiculous category - Best Use Of Media - and now we have IIFA doing something similar.

The logic seems to be 'SRK MUST receive some award'. Doesn't matter what it may be for, as long as he receives a trophy. In my opinion, it would be better to simply hand him a trophy without mentioning any particular category. That wouldn't be as idiotic as creating pointless new categories.

PSK's Finally Getting The Right Idea

BANGALORE: Getting an online appointment for your passport may get easy now. The Regional Passport Office on Tuesday announced it will accept online applications round the clock.

Until now, the online-appointment window opened at 6.30pm, and all slots were booked within minutes. And applicants had to wait for the next day to strike an appointment.

At least one regional office decided to go about it the sensible way. Hopefully the others will follow.

Next step - When employing the staff for PSK's, please ensure that prospective officers have at least average intelligence and are capable of basic comprehension skill.

Bombay Ke Hero

Crap song. Thuu.

Priyanka looks cool though (starts from the 1 minute time marker).

I wish there was a knob on the TV to turn up the intelligence. There's a knob called 'brightness', but it doesn't work.
