Sharing Too Much…

What makes Divya Sawant (whoever she may be) believe that people would want to know that she (or anyone else for that matter) is 'sweating like a pig'? If THAT wasn't bad enough.. Bipasha Basu decides to re-tweet the sweating pig's tweet.

Err… WHY?! What's so interesting about sweating like a pig that you want to share it on the social network?!

23-04-14 - I am a fakir, will run campaign on your money, Kejriwal says in Varanasi
24-04-14 - Arvind Kejriwal, wife declare assets worth over Rs 2 crore

The article gives out the details of the affidavit that 'Fakir' Kejriwal filed:

Fixed Assets:

  • Kejru's flat in Ghaziabad - INR 5.5 Million.
  • Kejru's flat in Haryana - INR 3.7 Million.
  • Mrs. Kejru's flat in Gurgaon - INR 10 Million.

Movable Assets:

  • Kejru - INR 425 Thousand.
  • Mrs. Kejru - INR 1.7 Million.

Cash In Hand:

  • Kejru - INR 10 Thousand.
  • Mrs. Kejru - INR 15 Thousand.

Net worth of INR 21 Million (give or take).

In all fairness, for individuals who have been gainfully employed (in relatively respectable positions) for a while now - that isn't TOO impressive a number. It is good but nothing GREAT (as per my humble opinion). And we all know about Real Estate valuations. So nothing much to brag about here… BUT, it is definitely WAY TOO impressive for a 'Fakir' who claims that all he has is INR 500 and an old jeep.

Kejriwal may be labelled a Kraantikaari, or an annoying idiotic cunt (more believable, if you ask me) but he is definitely no fakir.

If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough.

Kiran Mazumdar's 'Apology'… Hmm.

Firstly… it is Bangalore NOT Bnaglore (*rolls eyes)!

Now let's see this 'news' / 'apology' for what it really is - which is nothing more than a PR exercise for Rohan Murty.

If one were to read Kiran's Saturday tweet, there is absolutely nothing in it that can be termed as inside/confidential information. All it says is that Rohan gave a good presentation.

Corporate governance 'experts' slamming Kiran for disclosing 'board meeting proceedings' - Technically, they do have a point. But … err… it isn't exactly disclosing anything of any relevance, now is it? If one were to think about it - Someone stating that they had Evian water during a board meeting can also be 'technically' termed as disclosing the proceedings.

If the tweet in fact contained any relevant information about the board meeting, then the corporate governance 'experts' would be slamming the media as well for publishing the said tweet in the news articles. Common sense, right?

What this 'slamming' and 'apology' really is about - Is to try to pep up Rohan's name/image after Narayana Murty was strongly criticised for appointing him as Executive Assistant. That's all. Kiran tweets… PR team thinks of this as a great opportunity and decides to orchestrate a 'scandal' of sorts so that the tweet is sure to make it in the evening news. Simple enough.

Now a few more people (not just the Twitter Followers of Kiran Mazumdar) know that Rohan gave a brilliant and impressive presentation and is not the Executive Assistant to the Chairman just because daddy wanted to help sonny boy make something of his life.

Colourful Keyboard DIY

Between my job and my personal life, I spend a lot of time on the computer every day. A LOT. So much that I really need my workspace to be cheerful, fun, and inspiring. A plain old black keyboard like this just doesn’t fit the bill. But what’s a girl to do?

Err… evidently the LOT OF TIME being spent on the computer (between your job and personal life) doesn't involve doing anything of importance or significance. If you were indeed THAT busy (on the computer) doing something of any consequence whatsoever, I doubt you would have found the time to pull out every key and paint each one of them.

Well… I think it's a waste of time and serves absolutely no purpose. On top of that… it looks absolutely horrid. But hey… what do I know.

Fox News

The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.

Albert Einstein

Stupid Tanishq Ad

I really like the female model in this ad. With that out of the way, let's move on.

The ad:

  • Girl's father suggests that she should consider marriage.
  • The girl makes it clear that she is not interested in marriage.
  • Her mother walks into a Tanishq outlet and the girl starts trying on some jewellery. Likes it.
  • A sales rep asks 'So, when is the wedding?' The mother replies 'Oh, wedding jewellery… nah. We are not interested'.
  • In the next frame, it is suggested that the girl is now more open to the idea of marriage.

Here is the problem - The ad suggests that the girl is now interested because she would like to have the fancy jewellery. So… another materialistic woman? Just another gold digger (not necessarily in the conventional sense of the term, but still).

As if this wasn't enough… the mother then sends a text to her husband saying 'Even after 25 years of marriage, you are clueless about women' - suggesting that a woman has absolutely no self control or priorities and will easily change her mind if successfully enticed with shiny glittery jewellery.

Modi / BJP Wave?

It isn't that difficult a question to answer.

Isn't so much as a Modi OR BJP wave but more of an anti-Congress wave. It is evident even from the speeches and rallies. In the rallies and/or speeches, BJP candidates are speaking more about what's wrong with Congress and not nearly as much as what their own plans are.

When it comes to their own plans, all they have to say is pretty much 'We will fix it'. When it comes to HOW they propose to fix things… there really isn't much of a difference between what the different parties/candidates are mouthing (only a few real differences. Most are simply superficial).

Most speeches (if not all) are clearly dominated by what the Congress has done wrong and where all they have fucked up.

The people too are simply fed up with the present state of affairs and will happily lap up just about ANY alternative. It really wouldn't matter if BJP's PM candidate was Modi or someone else. As long as similar PR strategies were applied, the generated frenzy would be just about the same.

I must say… I would love to see a Congress led coalition win the 2014 General Elections. For no other reason but simply to see the shamed faces of the idiotic expert Pundits featuring day in and day out on the news channels.

Just How Idiotic Is The General Population?

Forkgate - I came across this news story, just by accident… and couldn't believe that it was termed as a 'scandal' [Link].

The mayor, on a pilgrimage Friday to Goodfellas, the venerable Staten Island pizzeria, smiled, nodded at his slice, and then proceeded to do the unthinkable: eat it with a knife and fork.

“Disaster,” declared a writer at New York magazine, citing the longstanding city protocol of devouring pizza, no matter how greasy, with hands only.

One website called it de Blasio’s first mistake as mayor.

Confronted by reporters about his conspicuous use of utensils, de Blasio argued that he was simply being authentic to his Italian roots. “In my ancestral homeland, it’s more typical to eat with a fork and knife,” said de Blasio, whose mother was Italian.

Pressed on why a mayor who prides himself on populism would opt for a such a technique, longtime friend Charles Greinsky shrugged.

Now… do we blame the media or the general population?

So, how stupid are you? You are going to make an issue about someone using a fork and knife (*rolls eyes)? Damn… just about ANYTHING makes the news these days.

Desperation - Stephen King

Thanks Surya. Excellent read! I would have liked it a lot more, if there was a bit less of reference to the scripture and all, but … all in all not a bad read at all.

My favourite character - John Edward Marinville. Something really familiar about the character. A bit disturbing. But that's a different story.

The Most Annoying Presenters On BBC World Service

Bola Mosuro - It's not just the bloody lisp… but she has the most annoying way of presenting the news and is absolutely pathetic when it comes to an interview or asking questions. A horrible way to start the day. I find her so annoying, that if she is barking on the morning news, I promptly switch off the car radio.

Alan Kasujja - Nothing wrong with his voice. He just ticks me off when he tries to pry more answers / material from the on-the-scene reporter and in the process ALWAYS ends up asking some of the most idiotic questions.

Scratch-N-Sniff Mint Denim

Yes! These jeans really do scratch-n-sniff with a fun mint scent! Try them out! The coating will last up to 5 washes depending on how you care for them and how often you wear em.

Seriously… WHY?!?

Why would anyone come up with something like this? I mean… what could possibly be the thought pattern that would lead to this? There definitely has to be a better use for one's time.

Zindagi Tune Lahu Leke Diya Kuchch Bhi Nahin

Zindagi tune lahu leke diya kuchch bhi nahin
Tere daaman mein mere vaaste kya kuchch bhi nahin

Mere inn haathon ki chaaho to talaashi le lo
mere haathon mein lakiron ke sivaa kuchch bhi nahin

Humne dekha hai kai aise khudaaon ko yahaan
saamne jinn ke vo sach much ka khuda kuchch bhi nahin

Yaa khuda ab ke ye kis rang se aai hai bahaar
zard hi zard hai pedon pe haraa kuchch bhi nahin

Dil bhi ik zid pe adaa hai kissi bachche ki tarah
yaa to sab kuchch hi isse chaahiye yaa kuchch bhi nahin

Fashionista… Really?

People keep saying Sonam Kapoor is stylish and dresses extremely well.

To date, I haven't seen her dressed in anything that can be termed 'exceptionally well', but I have seen her dressed as a complete fashion disaster (time and again). This is just one of them.

RBI To Banks - No Penalty For Balance Below Min. Limit… Err… RBI Sure Took It's Time!

MUMBAI: Customers may soon be spared penalties for non-maintenance of minimum balances in savings accounts with the Reserve Bank India asking banks to cut down services on low-balance accounts and do away with fines. Banks however say the new regime will lead to higher charges on services for customers.

Not getting into what 'services' will be cut down and what new charges could be imposed, I just want to highlight that this (no penalty for balance below min. limit) was a directive issued by the High Court in AUGUST 2011 [Link, TOI Link].

Now… will someone please point out WHY it took RBI over 2 years to discuss the issue with stakeholders and make the damn thing official? We all realise that a policy change requires work to be done and can not be done overnight, but over 2 years? Is THAT reasonable?
