Wataniya - In-Flight Roaming service.

"

Wataniya Telecom, Kuwait's Red Carpet Co. proudly launches Mobile in-flight roaming service onboard of regional and international airlines which will be effectively operational on June 1st, 2008. The company sets for a new landmark as being the first operator in Kuwait to roll out this leading service which responds perfectly to customer's inquiry for an ongoing communication on land as well as in sky.

The new service enables roaming customers to use their GSM mobile phones during flights - after takeoff and before landing; they only need international roaming subscription, then simply to switch on their mobile phones to make a call, send and receive text messages as well as data application.

The aircraft, an Airbus A340, is fitted with a system which stops mobiles from interfering with a plane's electronics. "
